Okta Recovery Email
Okta will prompt users who do not have a verified recovery email address saved in their Okta profile to enter a personal recovery email address. This must be an email address that does not require an ACC login.
A verified personal recovery email allows Okta to send you a password-reset link if you forget your password.
Until you enter and verify a personal recovery email address, Okta will continue prompting you each time you sign in.
Below, you can see what this process will look like.
How to Add a Personal Recovery Email to Okta
Before You Begin
It is recommended that you complete these steps using an Incognito or Private browser window.
Enter Your Personal Recovery Email
-
Open an Incognito or Private browser window.
-
Go to austincc.okta.com or sign in to an ACC application that uses Okta, such as Blackboard or ACCmail.
-
When prompted, enter a personal recovery email address. Do not use an ACC email address.

Verify Your Personal Recovery Email
-
Okta will send an automated verification message to the personal email address you entered.
-
While keeping the same Incognito or Private browser session open, open your personal email inbox in a new tab.
-
Open the newest Okta verification message and select Confirm Personal Recovery Email.

Invalid Token Error
If you receive an Invalid Token message:
- Delete all previous Okta confirmation emails from your personal email inbox so that an older verification link is not used.
- Return to austincc.okta.com in an Incognito or Private browser window.
- Sign in and enter your personal recovery email address again.
- Open the new Okta confirmation email and select Confirm Personal Recovery Email.
