Zoom Closed Captioning

Summary

Zoom Meetings offer many options when it comes to creating and allowing for captions within a meeting. This article demonstrates the various methods to add these settings to a Zoom meeting and further define user permissions or guide user access to closed caption settings.

Enabling Zoom Captions


To use closed captioning on Zoom, you must first enable it.

To do so, login to the web portal, and click on Settings on the left side panel.

Next, navigate to In Meeting (Advanced) and scroll down until you find Closed Captioning. Click the slider to enable it. To allow participants to save closed captions, enable Save Captions right below.

Closed Captioning Options

With closed captioning enabled, you have three options to supply the captioning after selecting the Closed Caption at the bottom.

Zoom Closed Caption Options

  1. Assign a participant to type: this option will allow you to select the participant who will type. Make sure to assign the participant before entering a breakout room.
  2. I will type: you will type the captions yourself.
  3. Copy the API token: this option will allow you to use 3rd party CC service.
