Blackboard Ultra: Edit Grading Schemas

Edit Grading Schemas 

From the Gradebook you can make changes to the grading schemas in your course.

Header Navigation:  Top navigation tab set to "Gradebook", alongside "Discussions", "Messages", "Analytics", "Groups", and "Achievements".  Toolbar Controls:  Displays a "Search gradebook" search bar, "Filter" button, view toggles, import/export icons, and a gear icon.  Highlighted Control (Black Arrow Callout):  A black arrow points directly to the Gear Icon (Gradebook Settings) located on the far right of the toolbar.  Gradebook Grid Headers:  Columns shown include "Students", "Overall Grade", "Allergen Video Q...", "Video Introducti...", "Allergen Quiz", "Attendance", "Extra Credit", "Sample Quiz", and "Week 0...".

  1. Select the Settings icon to access the Gradebook Settings panel.Header:  Displays the "Gradebook Settings" side panel for the course "Foundation Artificial Intelligence" with a close icon (×) in the top-left corner.  Highlighted Link (Blue Box):  "Manage Grade Schemas": Enclosed in a blue box directly below the "Grade Schemas" section description ("Grading schemas map percentages to letter grades or some other notation for reporting performance.").  Surrounding Settings Sections:  Student Performance: Features numeric inputs for "Number of days a student is inactive" (set to 7) and "When a student's overall grade percentage is below" (set to 50), alongside a "View Course Activity" link and a checked box for "Send activity stream alerts to students based on these settings".  Automatic Zeros: Heading visible at the bottom of the panel.
  2. Select Manage Grade Schemas to view the schemas available in your course. The default schema’s name and values are defined by the administrator, but you can create new grading schemas and customize existing ones.

Header:  Title reads "Grade Schemas" under the course title "Foundation Artificial Intelligence".  Left Sidebar (Grade Schemas List):  Callout A: Blue box surrounding the "+ Add" button next to the "Grade schemas" header.  Lists available schemas: Letter Schema A and currently active Letter Schema B (highlighted in black).  Right Panel (Letter Schema B Table):  Callout B: Blue box surrounding the three-dot options menu icon (...) in the upper-right corner of the schema.  Callout C: Blue box surrounding a purple plus icon (+) on the row divider line, displaying the tooltip "Add Grade below A-".  Callout D: Blue box surrounding the three-dot options menu icon (...) on the "B+" grade row.  Table Structure: Contains columns for "Grade Name" (A+, A, A-, B+, B, B-, C+, C, C-) and "Grade Range %" (e.g., A+ is 97% and 100%, B+ is 87% and less than 90%).

3. You can rename the default schema in your course and make changes to the Grade Ranges to suit your needs. The changes that you make to the default grade schema will only apply to your course:

  • A. Select Add to add a new grade schema. Enter the schema name. New grade schemas have two rows by default; each row contains a grade name and grade range.  
  • B. To copy or delete a schema, select the options menu (...) at the top right of this menu. You can only delete schemas that are not in use. 
  • C. To insert a row, select the plus sign (+). You can edit the grade ranges by selecting the values. Start from the bottom row and work your way up the rows. You can make the uppermost value greater than 100%. For example, if students earn 100% or more, you can assign A+. 
  • D. All rows have an options menu (...). Select it to edit or delete a row. At least two rows must remain for the schema to be valid, and you can’t delete the last row.
