How to Create an Assignment in Qwickly Course Tools

With Qwickly Course Tools, Instructors can deploy the same assignment across multiple courses with ease.

  1. From your Blackboard Ultra Navigation page, click Tools from the menu pane and select Qwickly Course Tools.
    Extended Description (If complex) Left Navigation Panel: The active menu item "Tools" is highlighted in purple and pointed to by a red arrow.  Main Content Area: A red box and arrow surround the "Qwickly Course Tools" card in the main grid.  Other Visible Tools: Additional unselected tiles include "Application Authorization", "EAC Visual Data", "Goal Performance", and "Goals".
  2. Select Assignment from the Course Tools list.   Extended Description (If complex) Highlighted Callout: A red box outlines the "Assignment" menu option at the top of the left navigation sidebar.  Left Navigation Sidebar: Displays the full "Course Tools" menu structure:  Create: Assignment (highlighted), Content, Event  Manage: Groups, Needs Grading  Send: Announcement, Email  Update: Change Dates, Check Links, Course Availability  Main Canvas: Displays an instructional message and icon reading: "Select a tool in the lefthand menu to manage your course communication and content."
  3. (A) Select the course(s) you’d like to create an assignment in the left-hand course list. (B) Add point maximum possible for this assignment. (C) Add a title, description information, and any file attachments. (D) Select if this assignment will be added to the course Available to Students or Unavailable to Students. (E) Once completed, click Submit.Callout A (Course List): Left-side menu displaying courses with checkboxes, where "Advanced Legal Research and Writing" is selected.  Callout B (Points): A numerical entry field labeled "Points:" with a default value of 0 and helper text: "If you do not want to grade this assignment, enter 0."  Callout C (Assignment Content): The central content panel containing a "Title" input field, a rich-text editing toolbar and body area, and an "Attachments (Optional)" section with a "Choose File" button.  Callout D (Availability): A toggle button group currently set to "Available to Students" (with "Unavailable to Students" as the unselected option).  Callout E (Action Button): A blue "Next" button in the lower-right corner to proceed to the next step (Timeline).
  4. This section is optional. (A) Select if these settings will apply to All Courses or Per Course, then set the following settings for each course you are adding this assignment to.  (B) Select optional Display after date, Display until date, and Due on date.  (C) Once complete, click Submit. Callout A (Scope Toggle): Toggle control set to "All Courses" (active) with an unselected option for "Per Course".  Callout B (Timeline Settings): Date (mm/dd/yyyy) and time (11:59 PM) input fields for "Display after:", "Display until:", and "Due on:".  Callout C (Next Button): A blue "Next" button outlined in red in the bottom-right corner to proceed to the Organization step.  Workflow Progress: The top progress tracker highlights "Timeline" as the active step between "Content" (completed), "Organization", and "Review".
  5. (A) Select if these settings will apply to All Courses or Per Course, then set the following settings for each course you are adding this assignment to. (B) Open the Content Area drop-down menu and select where this assignment will be deployed in the course.  (C) Once complete, click Submit. Callout A (Scope Toggle): Toggle control set to "All Courses" (active) with an unselected option for "Per Course".  Callout B (Content Selection): Dropdown menu labeled "Content Area:" for selecting where to publish the assignment in the course structure.  Callout C (Next Button): A blue "Next" button highlighted in the bottom-right corner to proceed to the Review step.  Workflow Progress: The top progress bar highlights "Organization" as the active third step following "Content" and "Timeline", preceding "Review".
  6. Review all of the previously selected assignment settings and once complete, click Submit. Highlighted Callout: A red box highlights the blue "Submit" button in the lower-right corner.  Workflow Progress: The progress bar at the top indicates the "Review" step is active following completed "Content", "Timeline", and "Organization" steps.  Review Summary Area: Displays a summary under the question "Is the following information correct?" with the following details:  Title: Test Assignment  Content: Test Description  Attachment(s): None  Points: 100  Availability: available  Selected Course: The left column confirms the target course as "Advanced Legal Research and Writing" (Fall 2025).
  7. Now, to ensure your assignment(s) deployed correctly, go to one of your courses and look in the selected Content Area to confirm the assignment(s) deployed.  Also, check the gradebook for an associated column to that assignment.
