ACC Staff or Students May Receive “Login Attempt Failed” or “Unable to Sign In” Errors When Accessing ACC Websites

Overview

This article provides troubleshooting steps for ACC staff and students who receive a “Login Attempt Failed” or “Unable to Sign In” error when attempting to access ACC websites that require ACCeID authentication.

ACC Staff or Students May Receive “Login Attempt Failed” or “Unable to Sign In” Errors When Accessing ACC Websites

Symptoms

Users may experience one or more of the following issues:

  • “Login Attempt Failed” error message
  • “Unable to Sign In” error message
  • Unable to access ACC websites using their ACCeID credentials

Resolution

Step 1: Test ACCeID Credentials

Users should verify their ACCeID username and password by logging into the ACCeID Manager website:

Step 2: Manually Enter Credentials

  1. Enter the user’s ACCeID
    • Format: lowercase first initial followed by a 7-digit number
  2. Manually type the password the user believes is correct.
  3. If the password field is already populated by a browser or password manager:
    • Delete the pre-filled password
    • Re-enter the password manually

Step 3: Verify Login Success

  • If the user can successfully log in to the ACCeID Manager website, they should also be able to access other ACC websites using the same password.
  • Ensure the password is typed manually and exactly as entered on the ACCeID Manager site.

Step 4: Password Expired

If the user receives a message indicating their password has expired:

  1. Follow the on-screen prompts
  2. Create a new password
  3. Confirm the new password
  4. Attempt to log in again using the updated credentials

Step 5: Reset Password

If the user is unable to log in to the ACCeID Manager website:

  1. Select the Forgot Password link
  2. Follow the password reset process
  3. Attempt to log in again after the password reset is completed

Additional Notes

  • Browser-saved passwords may contain outdated credentials.
  • Users should avoid relying on autofill during troubleshooting.
  • Typing credentials manually helps confirm the correct password is being used.
