How to Update Your Secondary Email Address in Okta

This article explains how to sign in to your Okta account and update your Secondary Email Address, which is used for password recovery and security notifications. It applies to all employees and students who use Okta for single sign-on access to applications.

Instructions

1. Sign in to Okta

  • Go to austincc.okta.com.
  • Enter your EID and Password
  • Complete Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) if prompted.
  • You'll arrive at your Okta Home Dashboard.

2. Open your Account Settings.

  • In the upper-right corner of the dashboard, click your name.
  • Select Settings from the dropdown menu. This will take you to the Account Settings page.

3. Update your Secondary Email

  • Click Edit Profile at the top right-hand corner
  • Find the Personal Information Section.
  • Click Edit.

  • Find the field labeled Secondary Email
  • Enter your new secondary email address (e.g., a personal email you can access outside of work)
  • Click Save.

4. Confirm your Secondary Email

  • Check your inbox for the email address you saved as your Secondary email

  • Click the link in the email to confirm the email change.

  • Sign in to your Okta account when prompted and you will be directed to a confirmation page.
