Okta Recovery Email

Okta Recovery Email

Starting Thursday, February 5th, 2026, Okta will prompt users who do not already have a recovery email address saved in their Okta profile to enter a Personal Recovery Email Address that does not require an ACC login as their “recovery email.”

This will allow Okta users to recover their forgotten passwords by sending a password reset link to their recovery email address.

Please note that until you have entered a recovery email address, checked that recovery email inbox, and verified the recovery email by clicking the link in the verification message, Okta will continue prompting you to add a recovery email each time you sign in.

Below, you can see what this process will look like.

How to Add a Personal Recovery Email to Okta

Enter Your Personal Recovery Email

  • Sign in to your Okta account by either visiting an ACC application that requires your Okta login, like Blackboard or your ACC email account, or by visiting austincc.okta.com.

  • You will be prompted to enter a Personal Recovery Email Address (not an ACC email address). This will help you regain access if you forget your password.

  • Click the “Send verification link” button.

Verify Your Personal Recovery Email

  • After you have entered your recovery email, Okta will send an automated message to that same email address.

  • Open your recovery email inbox in the same internet browser session (in a new tab) and click the “Confirm Personal Recovery Email” button.

  • You will be redirected to this page when the Recovery Email has been successfully validated.
